# Your data and private chats

Choose what you share and when a conversation should stay out of your history.

Keli sends the material needed to answer your request to its service providers. Files you attach and context you select can be part of that request. Connected accounts are used through Cowork and the permissions you grant. Do not include information the task does not need.

Keli does not use your conversations to train its models. The [Privacy Policy](https://keli.ai/legal/privacy) describes providers, storage, and deletion.

## Private chats

On the web, select **New private chat**, the ghost icon. A private chat keeps its conversation and artifacts in the current session rather than saving them to history, Library, or a Project. Exiting or refreshing clears them. Save any result you need before leaving.

Private chat is chat only: Cowork and image generation are unavailable. Requests force zero-data-retention routing, regardless of the setting for normal chats. Credit usage is still metered; private does not mean free or invisible to billing.

## Zero data retention

The zero-data-retention setting controls eligible model-provider routing. It does not erase saved Keli history or replace account deletion. Private chat combines that routing requirement with a conversation that is not saved to Keli history.

If no eligible provider can serve a request, it can fail instead of silently relaxing the privacy requirement.

## Connected accounts and local files

Review an account’s permissions before connecting it and remove connections you no longer use. On desktop, selected folders and explicit grants control access; a folder context is a snapshot. Read [Approvals](/approvals) before granting persistent permissions.
